Prominent figures in the XRP community are increasingly optimistic about the possibility of XRP being listed on U.S. exchange Robinhood, which is known for its strict listing policies.
Notably, leading U.S. exchanges like Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken support XRP trading services and have relisted the cryptocurrency following Ripple’s legal victory against the SEC about a year ago. Despite the ruling that XRP is not a security, Robinhood continues to distance itself from XRP.
Currently, Robinhood only supports real-time market data for XRP. The service is available for more than 50 crypto assets that are not approved for trading on the exchange, including BNB, Cardano (ADA), and Solana (SOL). Robinhood said it may support the buying and selling of XRP and 50 other tokens in the future.
Meanwhile, XRP legions believe that day is closer than expected as Robinhood announced plans to acquire Bitstamp, a global crypto exchange that supports XRP.
According to the official notice, Robinhood will acquire Bitstamp and integrate Bitstamp's extensive crypto trading business into Robinhood's platform to serve retail and institutional customers in the UK, US, EU and Asia.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2025, subject to satisfaction of standard closing conditions and receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.
Notably, arguments in favor of XRP being listed on Robinhood following this acquisition include Bitstamp’s strong support for XRP Ledger. For example, Bitstamp has issued stablecoins in USD, EUR, JPY, GBP, AUD, and CHF on the XRP Ledger.
XRPL dUNL validator Vet highlighted this following the acquisition news. He noted that Robinhood will inherit the technical infrastructure needed to list tokens issued on XRPL.
Furthermore, considering that Bitstamp already facilitates XRP trading, Vet suggested that Robinhood could seamlessly continue this practice.
Optimism about the listing of XRP and Ripple’s stablecoin is further boosted by the fact that Bitstamp has more than 50 active licenses and registrations around the world, providing Robinhood with ample regulatory clarity to continue supporting XRP after the acquisition.
Other community members are also optimistic about the potential for XRP to be listed given Ripple’s equity stake in Bitstamp. Anonymous community member XRP DROPZ believes that through the acquisition, Robinhood may even list Ripple’s upcoming RLUSD stablecoin.
XRPL dUNL validator reinforced this point, stating that XRP and Ripple’s stablecoin have a good chance of being listed with Bitstamp’s support for XRP Ledger.
Meanwhile, crypto detective Mr. Huber is less optimistic. Reacting to the upcoming acquisition, he believes that Robinhood may delist XRP from Bitstamp’s platform when the deal is completed.
