The remnants of 400 million XRP that Ripple retained from its June escrow execution are now in circulation, raising concerns.
The crypto community witnessed a major XRP transfer before the start of July, with 200 million XRP worth $94.56 million being transferred from one anonymous address to another. The transfer was highlighted by tracking service Whale Alert at 17:19 UTC on Sunday.
The Source of 200M XRP
The volume and transaction times of XRP tokens have attracted the attention of the community. Some believe that the transaction was made in preparation for the Ripple escrow execution today, July 1st.
As of the time of reporting, community tracking services have not detected any escrow transactions from Ripple.
In fact, a review of blockchain records suggests that the anonymous wallet involved in this latest 200 million XRP circulation may be associated with Ripple. The source wallet “rP4X2hTa7A” was activated by the destination address “rJqiMb94hy” last year, and this destination address itself was activated by Ripple in 2021.
Prior to this Sunday transfer, the wallet “rP4X2hTa7A” sent smaller amounts of XRP to multiple anonymous addresses over a ten-day period. These outflows began with the 250 million Ripple deposited into the wallet on June 20. Specifically, the funds flowed from the "Ripple 1" wallet.
Ripple sold 400 million XRP in June
Notably, the same Ripple wallet deposited 150 million XRP into the “rP4X2hTa7A” wallet on June 7, which brought the total outflow to 400 million XRP.
Recall that The Crypto Basic had earlier warned that Ripple could sell 400 million XRP in June, while the company’s average liquidation volume in previous months was 200 million XRP.
The suggestion stems from a deeper dive into unusual transactions leading up to the company’s release of 1 billion XRP from escrow on June 1. Finally, as expected, the 400 million XRP that Ripple had kept in its main disposable wallet was transferred to an external address.
As of now, the anonymous wallet that received the 200 million XRP still holds these tokens and has not yet carried out any transfer transactions.
