Tesla founder Elon Musk has backed professional XRP attorney John Deaton to replace anti-cryptocurrency Senator Elizabeth Warren in the upcoming Massachusetts Senate election.
Musk announced his support for Deaton today in response to a post from Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong.
Coinbase CEO Endorses Deaton and Other Pro-Crypto Political Candidates
Yesterday, Armstrong urged veteran crypto enthusiasts to support Dave McCormick for the Senate election, calling him “the better candidate in crypto.” Ten minutes later, attorney James Murphy, aka MetaLawMan, strongly supported Massachusetts attorney Deaton.
MetaLawMan urged them to vote for Deaton for his tireless advocacy for cryptocurrency freedom. Notably, he criticized Deaton’s opponent, Warren, calling her the founder of the anti-cryptocurrency army.
According to him, Warren believes that people should be “debanked,” limiting their use of traditional financial services if they make any investment decisions she doesn’t approve of.
In response, the Coinbase CEO expressed the same sentiment, urging Massachusetts residents to vote for Deaton. He accused Warren of supporting Gary Gensler as chairman of the SEC and encouraging him to undermine the U.S. cryptocurrency industry.
Additionally, Armstrong claimed that Warren believes the government should have control over financial services, which he believes is similar to China's centralized financial model.
However, he stressed that Warren’s attempts to undermine cryptocurrencies failed because stakeholders like Deaton fought back.
Elon Musk backs Deaton to replace Warren
Interestingly, Musk responded to Armstrong's comments by tweeting: "Yes." Musk’s response indicated that he supports the Coinbase CEO’s views and supports Deaton’s candidacy to replace Warren in the upcoming Massachusetts Senate election.
The comment also suggested that Musk believes Warren’s policies are harmful to the U.S. cryptocurrency industry. Notably, Musk has supported pro-cryptocurrency presidential candidate Donald Trump. Musk has been working to convince Americans to vote for Trump to "Make America Great Again."
Now, he's backing attorney Deaton's campaign for Massachusetts Senate to replace Warren.
