Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently expressed admiration for a block that sent a transaction worth $2.38 to 1,600 recipients.
This was Hoskinson’s reaction after Dedium, a GPU computing network on Cardano, raised awareness of the beauty of this blockchain in processing transaction volumes.
Dedium noted that a single block on the Cardano network processed only eight transactions, sent to 1,600 unique recipients.
It is worth noting that this block occurred two months ago. The highlight of the block is its size, processing speed and meager transaction fees. In particular, the eight transactions that made up the block spent 0.64 ADA each, worth a total of 5.16 ADA tokens, or $2.38.
It is worth noting that each Cardano block transaction may include ADA transfers to foreign accounts, NFTs, ecosystem tokens, and DeFi content.
The block in question involved 800 ADA exchange transfers with a total value of $422.76. The other half consisted of 800 MyUSD transfers with a total value of 1,000,000 Mynth (MyUSD is the stablecoin in the Cardano ecosystem).
Despite the large amount in this block, the total fees were only $2.38, and the block was processed at a rate of 80 transactions per second. Dedium’s attention to the deal has drawn various reactions from the ADA community, including from Cardano’s founder.
Cardano founder’s response
Reacting to the update, Hoskinson shared a GIF with the caption "Not much, but honest work".
Additionally, one community member expressed surprise at the size and meager cost of MyUSD transfers in block transactions.
On the other hand, user Bonpilos said that Cardano’s current performance may not be sufficient for decentralized applications (dApps) that require fast execution, such as margin trading. He suggested that Cardano needs to increase execution speeds to accommodate these dApps efficiently.
Hoskinson responded that solving these problems is exactly what Cardano’s Hydra was designed to do.
Notably, Hydra is a scalability system that integrates seamlessly with Cardano’s established settlement layer to facilitate increased transaction throughput.
