IOG reveals Cardano network activity spikes with latest update

Input Output Global (IOG) has released its latest weekly development update, highlighting Cardano’s outstanding performance and the progress made by different teams within the ecosystem.

According to the latest report, Cardano has shown significant growth in various metrics, including total transaction volume, native token, and token policy.

Cardano Network Activity Grows

Cardano’s total transaction volume has now reached 93.3 million, up 0.43% from 92.9 million last week. Additionally, the number of native tokens within the Cardano ecosystem increased by 40,000 over the past week to reach 10.17 million.

Furthermore, Cardano’s token policy increased from 136,594 to 141,712, a growth of 3.74% in a week. The report also noted that only one new project joined the Cardano network in the past week, bringing the number of projects built on the network to 1,365.

Additionally, 2,970 new Plutus scripts were added to the Cardano network this week, bringing the total to 64,248.

Although IOG did not highlight Cardano’s total value locked (TVL) last week, the latest data shows that there are approximately $547.7 million in assets locked on the network.

Latest Development Updates

In addition to Cardano’s impressive network activity, the IOG team also provided insight into development work being done during the week.

In particular, the core technical team released version v.8.12.2 of the Cardano node to improve bootstrapping the peer network. Additionally, the Ledger team continues to focus on constraint generator testing, updates to the Alonzo UTXO specification, and improvements to the consistency testing pipeline. The team also improved its safety and toughness during the Conway era this week.

In addition, the Lace team released a new upgrade of its wallet, providing users with a better crypto storage experience. On the scaling front, the Mithril team has made significant progress in proving Cardano transactions on its network, including identifying and fixing bugs and supporting Cardano Node v.8.12.

Regarding Catalyst, IOG revealed that the 169th Town Hall was held for the first time this week. It presents the ongoing governance developments and all issues related to the voting app have been resolved.

Finally, the education team continues to prepare for the upcoming Cardano development course to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina next month. They are also working on educational content for Mastering Cardano and Voltaire.
